I'm ready to show you my diploma animation based on ATL tracks 🔥 6 years of university studies have finally come to an end. And yes, you understood correctly: I made teachers listen to rap on defense 🤙🏻
The topic of my graduation thesis: a series of gif-illustrations based on the musical compositions of the artist ATL (Sergei Olegovich Kruppov)
The general concept of the final qualifying work directly echoes the ideas and moods of the chosen artist, whose musical compositions were to be illustrated. “Adaptation of a person to the gloomy through his transformation into beauty” or “Adaptation of a person to the world through the author’s interpretation of the environment”, both of these formulations quite accurately convey the atmosphere of the chosen artist’s work, and the desired mood of the final thesis.
Without a doubt, ATL is relevant not only for its modern sound and presentation. Despite the cheerful dance motifs in the arrangements, the Russian rap artist constantly touches on the acute social topics of our reality, talks about human nature, raises difficult existential questions, reopens old wounds and describes gloomy inner experiences that are well known to our generation. At the same time, he skillfully turns it into a bewitching picture of metaphors and references, which is completed by a competent and unobtrusive interweaving of the Old Slavonic style in vocals. Thus, the songs of Sergei Kruppov plunge headlong into the heavy atmosphere of the Russian hinterland, but so dear, familiar and in many ways fabulous, aesthetic in its own way. In its originality, ATL is one of the few performers who currently manage to accurately and smoothly convey Russian authenticity, which the audience has a demand for, given how Russian music for the most part tries to fully adopt the Western style and is rapidly losing its uniqueness and originality.
